Micro ROV Services was established as a father and son business with our first unit in New Zealand where Richard Knox resides, and the second one in the United Kingdom where Dennis Knox is based.

Dennis Knox is a highly experienced professional in the offshore installatio and construction industry and runs a senior consultancy providing expert advice and assistance to the upstream oil, gas and renewable energy industry under the name of OSSeas Consulting (Ocean Surveys, Sciences and Engineering Associates Ltd). Working with ROVS on projects for more than twenty years Dennis has an intimate understanding of capabilities and limitations of all classes of ROVs.

The unit used by Micro ROV Services, the Videoray is a small highly capable ROV that has quickly become a world recognised leader in the Micro ROV field and continues to surprise in it's capabilities with new uses being found almost daily. It is found in every sector where the need to see what is happening under water is required.

Micro ROV Services can offer not only professional ROV inspection and support activities, but also advice and assistance in marine projects from our extensive experience in the industry.

Dennis Knox is a senior project manager with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry and worldwide experience. He has expertise and understanding of all aspects of a project, such as planning, safety, surveys, engineering, costing and budgeting, logistics, contracts, resource and personnel management.

His last role involved acting as a key part of the leadership team for the offshore construction phase of one of the world's largest oil and gas project in Russia. Prior to this he fulfilled numerous roles involving Client Representative and Project Surveyor tasks in various offshore fields. His successful previous experience as a Party Chief was reflected through his rare position of being able to claim no loss of project time due to survey down time on any project under his control.

Before moving into the offshore oil industry, Dennis trained as a Hydrographic Surveyor with the Royal New Zealand Navy, where held a Queens commission and was a Commanding Officer.

Dennis is a keen sportsman, artist and author and is based in London, U.K.

Richard is a qualified Master Builder. He has worked in this field since leaving school and has passed all the qualifications necessary for certification. He has the ability to gain a quick and detailed understanding of the highly technical, as evidenced when at the age of fifteen he undertook the complete strip down and rebuilding of a 1973 Mark I Ford Escort, producing a excellent restoration as a sports version entirely by his own hands. His hobbies include snow boarding and motor racing for which he owns and services himself, a Mazda RX7.

In 2008 he commenced developing skills as an ROV operator and attended an operators training course given one on one by Videoray's chief instructor, Steve van Meter. This was followed by the advanced technical training course where he gained the expertise necessary to maintain and if necessary rebuild a Videoray ROV. He has already proved himself a skilled operator and has natural spatial analysis abilities which are absolutely essential to be a successful, professional ROV pilot. The task may seem simple to a casual observer but the skills of knowing what to do and how are only partially learned. The inherent ability must be there first and Richard has these abilities.

Richard holds the Videoray Advanced Technical training certificate, he is also fully qualified with offshore certifications; OPTIO Sea Survival and Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). Richard presents a friendly character and approaches his work with an entirely professional attitude. In the building industry he has a reputation for excellence and honesty in his dealing with clients, and carries these same attributes into Micro ROV Services.
